Poetry through the Seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
You leave me in pink,
no one to dance with.
My song won’t play anymore.
So beautiful in black,
too close to kiss,
we battle for beauty
leaning into each other,
just to be pretty,
just to be loved.
The party’s over.
I’ve soiled my dress.
Please, won’t you please,
take me home.
Men are beasts.
Even the good ones
betray.
get away from me
He got mean
and you
loved him still.
Happens all the time.
he’s not
always like this.
Afterwards
he won’t remember.
blueberry kisses
and he’ll protect you.
You watch him sleep
in beastly shivers,
waiting
for the savage
to call your name.
In white
I hold you,
the ring of truth
falling
from your finger.
Blood flows
from the open wound
of my sword.
We dance,
sipping drinks
from colored glasses,
telling tales
to make me hungry.
Only gone a moment,
she comes
to claim my crown
(and) even with a head start,
I’m on the run.
Memories clattering
to the floor
like colored glasses,
it comes to me
quietly.
I couldn’t save him.
So with a kiss,
I say goodbye
